The 1936 Buffalo nickel represents a classic era of United States coinage, showcasing a distinctively American aesthetic. Struck in Philadelphia, this five-cent piece is composed of copper and nickel, presenting a historical design that captures the spirit of the American frontier. This particular specimen is preserved in Almost Uncirculated condition, retaining much of its original detail and luster. On the obverse, the coin displays a powerful profile of a Native American, facing right. The word LIBERTY is inscribed along the upper right edge, with the year 1936 clearly visible at the base of the portrait. This design, created by James Earle Fraser, was modeled after three different Native American individuals to create a composite representation. The reverse of the coin features a massive American bison standing atop a raised mound of earth. Positioned above the animal is the traditional motto E PLURIBUS UNUM, while the denomination FIVE CENTS is boldly inscribed along the bottom border. The strength and texture of the bison's form make this one of the most celebrated designs in the history of American currency.
