1936-D Walking Liberty Half Dollar VG/VF

0.3575 troy oz .900 1936 Very Good/Very Fine

In 1936, the Denver Mint produced a half dollar that remains a high point of American coinage design. Struck in 90 percent silver with a precious metal content of 0.3575 troy ounces, this fifty-cent piece showcases the artistry of designer Adolph Weinman. The coin represents a classic era of United States currency, combining elegant symbolism with precious metal. The obverse side presents a graceful image of Lady Liberty moving toward the rising sun, her figure draped in the American flag while she cradles a bundle of oak and pine branches. This side also bears the inscription of the year 1936 along with the words "IN GOD WE TRUST". On the reverse, a magnificent eagle is depicted perched upon a high mountain crag, its wings partially spread as if preparing for flight. This powerful wildlife portrait is accompanied by the traditional national mottos, including "E PLURIBUS UNUM", and clearly displays the denomination "HALF DOLLAR" alongside the country name, "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA".
