In 1936, the Denver Mint struck this ninety percent silver half dollar, carrying a design that remains a high point of American coinage. Containing 0.3575 troy ounces of precious metal, the coin represents a classic era of United States currency, blending artistic elegance with everyday utility during the mid-twentieth century. The front of the coin displays Lady Liberty moving gracefully toward a rising sun, cradling a bundle of branches in her arm. This side is inscribed with the phrases "IN GOD WE TRUST" and the year "1936". Adolph Weinman designed this striking image, which is widely celebrated for its sense of forward movement and optimism. On the reverse, a powerful eagle stands perched on a rocky outpost, wings slightly spread as if preparing to launch into the sky.
