Struck in 1936 at the San Francisco Mint, this ten-cent silver piece is a classic example of twentieth-century American coinage. The coin contains 0.0715 troy ounces of silver within its ninety percent pure composition. With a mintage of 9,210,000, this issue represents a fascinating moment in the long-running series, preserved here in an Almost Uncirculated state that retains much of its original detail. The obverse features a youthful depiction of Liberty wearing a winged Phrygian cap, a design element that famously led the public to mistake her for the Roman messenger god Mercury. Surrounding this central figure are the inscriptions "IN GOD WE TRUST" and the date "1936". On the reverse, the design shifts to powerful symbolic imagery. A traditional fasces, representing strength and unity, is bound alongside an olive branch, which signals a desire for peace. The mint mark "S" is visible on this side, indicating its origin in San Francisco, alongside the motto "E PLURIBUS UNUM" and the denomination "ONE DIME".
