The 1936 Walking Liberty half dollar stands as a testament to early twentieth-century American coinage design. Struck in 90 percent silver, this fifty-cent piece contains 0.3575 troy ounces of precious metal. The year 1936 saw a production of 12,614,000 of these coins, and this particular specimen survives in an exceptional certified grade of Mint State 64 (MS-64). On the obverse, the figure of Liberty is depicted in mid-stride, moving gracefully toward a rising sun. She cradles a bundle of branches in her arm while the American flag drapes elegantly around her shoulders. The year 1936 is inscribed at the bottom, accompanied by the traditional motto "IN GOD WE TRUST" in the field. The reverse presents a powerful wildlife scene, featuring an eagle perched firmly upon a mountain crag, wings slightly spread as if preparing for flight. This side of the coin carries the national identification and the classic Latin motto "E PLURIBUS UNUM." The entire coin was originally designed by the sculptor Adolph Weinman, whose vision created one of the most celebrated circulating designs in United States history.
