The 1936 Walking Liberty half dollar is a stunning example of United States coinage, minted in 90 percent silver with a precious metal content of 0.3575 troy ounces. Struck at the Philadelphia Mint, this coin represents a high point in American numismatic art, showcasing a design created by the celebrated sculptor Adolph Weinman. On the obverse, Lady Liberty is depicted in mid-stride, moving gracefully toward a rising sun while cradling a bundle of branches in her arm. This side of the coin bears the inscription of the year 1936 along with the classic national motto, IN GOD WE TRUST. The reverse side of the coin presents a powerful image of an eagle perched upon a rugged rock, its wings slightly spread as if preparing to launch into flight. The inscriptions on this side include UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, the traditional Latin phrase E PLURIBUS UNUM, and the denomination, HALF DOLLAR.
