Struck at the Denver Mint in 1937, this ten-cent silver piece is a classic example of United States coinage from the mid-twentieth century. Composed of 90 percent silver, containing 0.0715 troy ounces of the precious metal, the coin is widely recognized by its distinctive imagery. This particular specimen is preserved in Extra Fine condition, showcasing the finer details of its original engraving. The obverse of the coin presents a youthful depiction of Liberty wearing a winged Phrygian cap, a design element that famously led the public to mistake her for the Roman messenger god, Mercury. Alongside this portrait, the inscription "IN GOD WE TRUST" is visible, accompanied by the 1937 date. On the reverse, the coin displays a fasces, a bundle of rods bound around an ax, positioned alongside an olive branch. This side of the coin bears the inscriptions "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA", "E PLURIBUS UNUM", and the denomination "ONE DIME". The Denver mint mark, indicated by a small "D", is also located on this side, completing a design created by artist Adolph Weinman.
