In 1937, the Philadelphia Mint produced a remarkably small run of proof-strike Mercury dimes, totaling just 5,756 pieces. Unlike the millions of dimes struck for regular circulation, these special proof coins were crafted with polished dies and planchets, resulting in sharp, mirror-like finishes and exceptionally crisp details that highlight the classic design. This specific ten-cent piece is composed of 90 percent silver, containing 0.0715 troy ounces of precious metal.
