1937 Walking Liberty Half Dollar MS-66 PCGS

0.3575 troy oz .900 1937 MS-66 (PCGS)

The 1937 Walking Liberty half dollar stands as a premier example of American coinage art, crafted from 90 percent silver with a precious metal content of 0.3575 troy ounces. Struck at the Philadelphia Mint during a mintage run of 9,522,000 pieces, this particular specimen is certified in exceptional Mint State 66 (MS-66) condition, preserving the intricate details of its original manufacture. Designed by the celebrated sculptor Adolph Weinman, the obverse of the coin presents a powerful image of Liberty walking toward the dawn of a new day. She is draped in the folds of the American flag and cradles branches of laurel and oak, symbolizing civil and military glory. The inscription "IN GOD WE TRUST" is positioned in the field, with the year 1937 anchored at the bottom. The reverse displays a majestic eagle perched upon a mountain crag, wings partially unfolded as if preparing to launch into flight. A pine sapling emerges from the rock, representing the nation's strength and growth. The traditional Latin motto "E PLURIBUS UNUM" is clearly visible, alongside the denomination of "HALF DOLLAR" which appears on the coin as "HALF-DOLLAR" in the classic layout.
