The 1938 ten-cent piece struck at the Denver Mint represents a classic era of American coinage. Composed of 90 percent silver, this coin contains 0.0715 troy ounces of precious metal. Collectors classify this particular specimen in Almost Uncirculated condition, meaning it retains much of its original luster and detail from the day it left the coin press. Created by the artist Adolph Weinman, the coin is widely known as the Mercury Dime, though the central figure is actually a young Liberty. On the obverse, she wears a winged Phrygian cap, which was intended to symbolize freedom of thought. The legend "IN GOD WE TRUST" is clearly visible alongside the 1938 date.
