Struck at the Denver Mint in 1939, this ten-cent silver piece is a remarkable survivor from the mid-century era. Composed of 90 percent silver, containing 0.0715 troy ounces of precious metal, the coin has been certified in Mint State 66 (MS-66) condition, preserving its intricate details for over eight decades. The obverse of the coin features a youthful depiction of Liberty wearing a winged Phrygian cap. This distinct headwear strongly resembles the traditional imagery of the Roman messenger god, Mercury, which gave the series its popular nickname. Legible on the obverse is the classic American motto "IN GOD WE TRUST" alongside the 1939 date. On the reverse, the design shifts to symbols of strength and peace. A traditional Roman fasces, representing collective authority, is paired with a leafy olive branch, symbolizing a desire for harmony. These elements are encircled by the legend indicating the nation of origin, the United States of America, and the face value of one dime.
