In 1939, the Denver Mint produced a run of 4,267,800 silver half dollars, featuring one of the most celebrated designs in United States coinage. This specific piece is preserved in an exceptional state of preservation, graded Mint State 66 (MS-66), which highlights the intricate details of the artwork and the high quality of the strike from the Denver facility. The obverse of the coin presents a powerful image of Liberty moving toward a rising sun. She is draped in the American flag, carrying branches of laurel and oak in her arms, symbolizing both civil and military glory. The motto "IN GOD WE TRUST" is clearly visible alongside the 1939 date. This iconic representation of Liberty was created by sculptor Adolph A. Weinman. On the reverse, Weinman designed a majestic eagle perched atop a mountain crag, wings partially spread as if preparing to launch into flight. The Denver Mint's "D" mint mark is struck on this side, signifying its origin.
