1939 Walking Liberty Half Dollar BU

Struck in 1939, this United States half dollar represents a high point in American coinage design. Minted in Philadelphia, the fifty cent piece is composed of ninety percent silver, containing slightly over one third of an ounce of precious metal (0.3575 troy ounces). As a sovereign coin, its face value and purity are fully backed by the United States government. The obverse of the coin displays the celebrated design by Adolph A. Weinman, featuring a full-length figure of Lady Liberty. She is depicted walking gracefully toward a rising sun, cradling branches of pine and oak in her arm. The inscription "IN GOD WE TRUST" is clearly visible alongside the 1939 date. On the reverse, a powerful eagle stands perched upon a rugged mountain crag, its wings raised in a dramatic pose. The traditional Latin motto "E PLURIBUS UNUM" is inscribed alongside the denomination "HALF DOLLAR" and the issuing nation "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA". This particular specimen is preserved in Brilliant Uncirculated condition, retaining its original mint luster and sharp details just as it looked when it left the mint.
