The 1940 Walking Liberty half dollar represents a classic era of United States silver coinage. Struck at the San Francisco Mint, this fifty-cent piece is composed of 90 percent silver, containing 0.3575 troy ounces of the precious metal. Preserved in Almost Uncirculated condition, the coin retains much of its original luster and detail, allowing observers to appreciate the intricate artistry of its design. On the obverse, the figure of Lady Liberty is depicted in a graceful stride toward the rising sun, cradling a bundle of branches in her arm. The legendary motto "IN GOD WE TRUST" is clearly visible alongside the 1940 date. The reverse showcases a powerful eagle perched upon a rugged rock formation, wings partially spread as if preparing to take flight. The traditional Latin motto "E PLURIBUS UNUM" and the face value are inscribed on this side, accompanied by the "S" mint mark indicating its West Coast origin.
