1941-D Mercury Dime BU

0.0715 troy oz .900 1941 Brilliant Unc

Struck in the Denver Mint during a pivotal year in global history, this 1941 silver ten-cent piece is a brilliant uncirculated survivor from the classic era of United States coinage. Consisting of 90 percent silver, the coin contains 0.0715 troy ounces of precious metal and showcases the crisp, clean details characteristic of a coin that never entered daily commerce. The obverse features a youthful depiction of Lady Liberty wearing a Phrygian cap adorned with wings. This distinctive headgear, intended to represent freedom of thought, led the public to mistake the figure for the Roman messenger god, giving the series its popular nickname, the Mercury Dime. To the left and right of the portrait, the traditional inscription "IN GOD WE TRUST" is clearly visible, with the date "1941" anchored at the bottom. On the reverse, the design presents a fasces, which is a bundle of wooden rods bound together around an axe, symbolizing strength and unity. An olive branch is woven alongside the fasces, offering a contrasting message of peace. The Latin motto "E PLURIBUS UNUM" is nestled in the right field, while the Denver mint mark "D" is positioned near the bottom, just above the denomination "ONE DIME."
