1941 Mercury Dime AU

Struck during a pivotal moment in the mid-twentieth century, this ten-cent piece from 1941 showcases one of the most celebrated designs in United States coinage. Often referred to as the Mercury Dime, the coin is composed of 90 percent silver, containing 0.0715 troy ounces of the precious metal. This particular specimen is preserved in Almost Uncirculated condition, retaining much of its original detail and luster from the Philadelphia Mint. The obverse of the coin features a youthful depiction of Liberty wearing a winged Phrygian cap, a symbol intended to represent freedom of thought. This striking image, created by designer Adolph Weinman, is accompanied by the inscription "IN GOD WE TRUST" and the 1941 date. On the reverse, the design transitions to themes of strength and peace. A traditional Roman fasces, representing unity and authority, is bound alongside a leafy olive branch, symbolizing a desire for peace. The reverse inscriptions include "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA", "ONE DIME", and the Latin motto "E PLURIBUS UNUM".
