In 1941, the Philadelphia Mint produced a limited run of proof coins, including a small number of Walking Liberty half dollars. Out of a mintage of just 15,412 pieces, this particular coin has survived in an exceptional state of preservation, certified as Proof 64. Unlike standard circulating issues of the era, these proof strikes were prepared with specially polished dies and planchets, resulting in a sharpness of detail that highlights the artistry of the design. Crafted from 90 percent silver with a precious metal content of 0.3575 troy ounces, this fifty-cent piece carries no mint mark, denoting its origin in Philadelphia. The reverse of the coin features a proud eagle alongside the traditional inscriptions UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, E PLURIBUS UNUM, and HALF DOLLAR.
