Struck in 1941, this United States half dollar represents a classic era of American silver coinage. The coin is composed of 90 percent silver, containing 0.3575 troy ounces of the precious metal. Produced at the Philadelphia Mint, this piece carries no mint mark, which is characteristic of the facility's output during this period. The obverse displays a powerful image of Lady Liberty walking toward the rising sun, cradling a bundle of branches in her arm. This side is inscribed with the year 1941 and the phrase IN GOD WE TRUST. On the reverse, an eagle is depicted perched on a rugged rock, preparing to take flight. The reverse inscriptions include UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, the traditional motto E PLURIBUS UNUM, and the denomination HALF DOLLAR. This enduring design was originally created by Adolph Weinman.
