In 1942, the Denver Mint produced a half dollar that remains celebrated for its artistic beauty. Struck in 90% silver with a precious metal content of 0.3575 troy ounces, this fifty-cent piece showcases one of the most famous designs in United States coinage history. The coin's physical presence is defined by its classic silver composition and the detailed craftsmanship of the era. The obverse side presents a graceful depiction of Lady Liberty as she moves toward a rising sun. In her arms, she cradles a bundle of branches, symbolizing strength and growth. This side also features the year 1942 and the traditional national motto, "IN GOD WE TRUST." On the reverse, a powerful eagle stands perched upon a rugged rock, wings slightly spread as if preparing to launch into flight.
