Struck during a pivotal year in global history, this 10 cent piece from the San Francisco Mint showcases one of the most celebrated designs in American numismatics. Composed of 90 percent silver, the coin contains 0.0715 troy ounces of precious metal. Preserved in Almost Uncirculated condition, it retains much of the original luster and detail that emerged from the minting press in 1942. The obverse features a youthful representation of Liberty wearing a winged Phrygian cap, a powerful symbol meant to represent freedom of thought. This striking portrait, created by designer Adolph Weinman, is accompanied by the inscription of the word Liberty and the national motto, "In God We Trust." On the reverse, the design shifts to a dual message of strength and peace. A fasces, representing unity and authority, is bound alongside an olive branch, symbolizing a desire for peace. The reverse inscriptions include "United States of America," the denomination "One Dime," and the traditional Latin phrase "E Pluribus Unum."
