The 1942 silver half dollar struck at the San Francisco Mint represents a classic era of United States coinage. Composed of 90 percent silver, the coin contains 0.3617 troy ounces of precious metal. On the obverse, the figure of Liberty is depicted in mid-stride, moving gracefully toward a rising sun. She carries branches of laurel and oak, symbolizing civil and military glory, while the American flag is draped elegantly around her shoulders. The year 1942 is inscribed at the bottom, with the traditional motto "IN GOD WE TRUST" positioned in the right field. The reverse displays a powerful eagle perched upon a rugged mountain crag.
