During the height of the Second World War, the Denver Mint struck over 71 million silver dimes featuring the iconic winged Liberty cap design, commonly known as the Mercury Dime. This particular specimen survived the decades in remarkable condition, earning a high grade of Mint State 65 with the coveted Full Bands distinction. This designation indicates that the horizontal bands wrapping the fasces on the reverse side are exceptionally well-defined and fully split, a sign of an incredibly sharp and complete strike from the coin dies. Struck in 90 percent silver with a precious metal content of 0.0723 troy ounces, the coin displays the classic obverse inscription of the national motto, "IN GOD WE TRUST", alongside the 1943 date. The reverse features the traditional Roman fasces wrapped in an olive branch, symbolizing both strength and peace, accompanied by the Latin motto "E PLURIBUS UNUM" and the issuing country name, "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA". The small "D" mint mark on the reverse confirms its origin from the Colorado minting facility.
