During a pivotal year in the mid twentieth century, the Philadelphia Mint produced this ten-cent piece containing 0.0715 troy ounces of silver. Struck in 0.900 fine silver, the coin represents a beloved era of United States currency design. This specimen survives in Almost Uncirculated condition, preserving the crisp details of its original engraving. The obverse features a youthful depiction of Liberty wearing a winged Phrygian cap, a design element by Adolph Weinman that historically led the public to mistake the figure for the Roman messenger god Mercury.
