In 1943, the United States Mint produced a ten cent piece that remains celebrated for its artistic merit and symbolic power. Struck in 90 percent silver with a precious metal content of 0.0715 troy ounces, this coin belongs to the popular Mercury Dime series. This specific specimen has survived in Brilliant Uncirculated condition, preserving the sharp details of its original strike just as it appeared during the mid-twentieth century. The obverse of the coin displays a youthful depiction of Lady Liberty wearing a winged Phrygian cap, a design element crafted by Adolph Weinman. This distinctive headwear often led the public to mistake Liberty for the Roman messenger god Mercury, giving the series its famous nickname. Surrounding the portrait are the inscriptions "IN GOD WE TRUST" and the date "1943". On the reverse, the design features a traditional fasces paired alongside an olive branch, symbolizing both strength and peace.
