0.0715 troy oz .900 1943 Brilliant Unc

The 1943-S Mercury Dime stands as a brilliant example of United States coinage from the mid-century era. Struck at the San Francisco Mint during the height of the Second World War, this ten-cent piece is composed of 90 percent silver, containing 0.0715 troy ounces of the precious metal. Kept in Brilliant Uncirculated condition, the coin retains its original luster, allowing the intricate details of its classic engraving to shine just as they did when it first left the coining press. Designed by Adolph Weinman, the obverse of the coin presents a youthful profile of Liberty wearing a winged Phrygian cap. This distinct headwear, which historically symbolized freedom of thought, led the public to mistake the figure for the Roman messenger god, giving the series its popular nickname. The year 1943 is clearly struck below the portrait, alongside the national motto affirming trust. On the reverse, the design features a traditional fasces, a bundle of rods bound around an ax, which is closely intertwined with a leafy olive branch. This pairing represents a dual message of strength and peace. The San Francisco mint mark, a small letter S, is located near the bottom of the design, marking its origin from the West Coast facility.
