1943 Walking Liberty Half Dollar Fine/VF

In 1943, the Philadelphia Mint produced a half dollar that remains a high point of American coinage design. Struck in 90 percent silver, this mid-century coin contains 0.3575 troy ounces of precious metal. It represents a time when circulating currency was both a medium of exchange and a canvas for beautiful art. The obverse displays Lady Liberty moving gracefully toward a rising sun. Draped in the stars and stripes, she cradles a bundle of branches in her arm, symbolizing strength and peace. The inscriptions "IN GOD WE TRUST" and the year "1943" accompany this powerful image. This side of the coin was created by the noted sculptor Adolph Weinman. On the reverse, Weinman designed a powerful eagle perched upon a mountain crag, wings partially spread as if preparing for flight. The legends "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" and "HALF DOLLAR" encircle the majestic bird, alongside the traditional motto "E PLURIBUS UNUM." This specimen survived decades of circulation, retaining enough detail to be classified in Fine to Very Fine condition.
