The 1944 Mercury dime struck at the Denver Mint represents a classic era of American silver coinage. Composed of 90 percent silver with a weight of 0.0715 troy ounces, this ten cent piece is preserved in Brilliant Uncirculated condition, allowing its original artistic details to remain sharp and clear. Created by designer Adolph Weinman, the obverse features a youthful depiction of Lady Liberty wearing a winged Phrygian cap. This distinct headgear often led observers to mistake her for the Roman god Mercury, giving the series its popular nickname. The legend "IN GOD WE TRUST" and the date 1944 are clearly visible alongside the profile. The reverse of the coin displays a fasces, a bundle of rods bound around an axe, paired with an olive branch. This design is surrounded by the inscriptions "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA", "E PLURIBUS UNUM", and the denomination "ONE DIME". The "D" mint mark on the reverse confirms its origin from the Denver facility.
