During the height of the Second World War, the composition of the United States five-cent piece underwent a temporary transformation. This 1944 specimen from the Denver Mint contains 35 percent silver, a metallurgical shift prompted by wartime resource conservation. Strikingly preserved in Brilliant Uncirculated condition, the coin retains its original luster and showcases the crisp details of its mid-century design. The obverse presents a profile of Thomas Jefferson, accompanied by the traditional mottos of trust and liberty. On the reverse, Jefferson's historic Virginia estate, Monticello, is depicted in fine detail.
