0.0715 troy oz .900 1944 Brilliant Unc

The 10 cent piece from 1944, struck at the San Francisco Mint, represents a classic era of American coinage. Minted in 90 percent silver with a precious metal weight of 0.0715 troy ounces, this Brilliant Uncirculated specimen showcases the crisp details of a design first introduced in the early twentieth century. On the obverse, the profile depicts a youthful Lady Liberty wearing a Phrygian cap adorned with wings. This distinctive headwear often led the public to mistake her for the Roman messenger god, Mercury, giving the series its popular nickname. The legend "IN GOD WE TRUST" and the date 1944 are clearly visible on this side. The reverse features a traditional fasces, a bundle of rods bound around an ax, positioned alongside an olive branch. These symbols represent strength, unity, and a desire for peace. The inscriptions surrounding the design include "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA", "ONE DIME", and the Latin phrase "E PLURIBUS UNUM". The small "S" mint mark identifies its origin from the West Coast minting facility.
