The 1944 Walking Liberty half dollar stands as a remarkable example of mid-twentieth-century American coinage. Struck in San Francisco, this fifty-cent piece is composed of 90 percent silver, containing 0.3575 troy ounces of the precious metal. This particular specimen has been certified in Mint State 64 (MS-64) condition, preserving the intricate details of its celebrated design. On the obverse, the figure of Liberty is depicted in mid-stride, walking toward a rising sun. This side of the coin bears the word LIBERTY, the motto In God We Trust, and the 1944 year of issue, all originally envisioned by designer Adolph Weinman. The reverse features a powerful eagle with its wings spread wide. Accompanying the central figure are the inscriptions UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, the traditional motto E Pluribus Unum, and the half dollar denomination.
