1944 Walking Liberty Half Dollar Fine/VF

0.3575 troy oz .900 1944 Fine/Very Fine

Struck during the height of the mid-century era, this 1944 half dollar represents one of the most celebrated designs in United States coinage. Crafted from 90% silver, the fifty-cent piece carries a metal content of 0.3575 troy ounces. This particular specimen survives in a circulated state, displaying the honest wear characteristic of a Fine to Very Fine grade. The obverse showcases Adolph Weinman's famous depiction of Lady Liberty, draped in the American flag as she strides gracefully toward a rising sun. In her arms, she cradles a bundle of oak and pine branches, symbolizing civil and military strength. The legend "IN GOD WE TRUST" and the date "1944" are clearly visible on this side. On the reverse, a powerful eagle stands perched on a rocky mountain crag, wings partially spread as it prepares for flight. The national motto "E PLURIBUS UNUM" is nestled alongside the bird, while the inscriptions "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" and "HALF DOLLAR" frame the majestic scene.
