Struck in 1945, this ten-cent silver piece from the Denver Mint represents a classic era of American coinage design. The coin is composed of 90 percent silver, containing approximately 0.0715 troy ounces of the precious metal. Preserved in Brilliant Uncirculated condition, it offers a remarkably clear look at the artistry that defined United States pocket change in the first half of the twentieth century. The obverse presents a youthful depiction of Lady Liberty wearing a winged Phrygian cap, a design element created by Adolph Weinman. This distinctive headwear often led the public to mistake the figure for the Roman messenger god Mercury, giving the series its popular nickname. Alongside Liberty, the inscription "IN GOD WE TRUST" and the date "1945" are visible. On the reverse, the design features a traditional fasces paired with an olive branch, symbolizing strength and peace. The inscriptions read "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" and "ONE DIME", accompanied by the Latin motto "E PLURIBUS UNUM". The small "D" mint mark on the reverse confirms this particular coin was produced at the Denver facility.
