Struck in the final year of World War II, this 10 cent silver piece from the Denver Mint represents one of the most celebrated eras of American coinage. Composed of 90 percent silver with a precious metal content of 0.0715 troy ounces, the coin is widely recognized by its distinctive imagery, which was originally created by the artist Adolph Weinman. The obverse presents a youthful personification of Liberty wearing a winged Phrygian cap, a design element that historically led the public to mistake her for the Roman messenger god Mercury. Accompanying this portrait is the classic inscription "IN GOD WE TRUST" alongside the 1945 date. On the reverse, the design features a fasces, a bundle of rods bound around an axe, paired with an olive branch to represent both strength and peace. The mint mark "D" indicates its origin at the Denver facility.
