Struck in the final year of its series, this 10 cent piece from the Denver Mint represents a classic era of American coinage. Composed of 90 percent silver, containing 0.0715 troy ounces of the precious metal, the coin is widely recognized for its beautiful and symbolic imagery. The obverse features a youthful depiction of Liberty wearing a winged Phrygian cap, a design element that historically led to the popular, though technically incorrect, nickname of the Mercury Dime. The legend "IN GOD WE TRUST" and the year 1945 are clearly visible on this side. On the reverse, the design showcases a fasces, a bundle of rods bound around an axe, paired with an olive branch. These elements represent strength and peace, flanked by the motto "E PLURIBUS UNUM" and the denomination. This specific coin has survived in Extra Fine condition, preserving the intricate details crafted by designer Adolph Weinman.
