Known popularly as the Mercury Dime, this coin showcases a distinctive artistic vision that has fascinated observers for generations. It was produced at the Philadelphia mint during the final year of the Second World War, representing the culmination of a long-running series. On the obverse, the design features a youthful profile of Liberty wearing a winged Phrygian cap, a symbol that often led the public to mistake her for the Roman messenger god, Mercury. The legend "IN GOD WE TRUST" is inscribed alongside the 1945 date.
