The 10 cent piece from 1945 represents a classic era of American coinage. Minted in Philadelphia, this 90 percent silver coin is preserved in Brilliant Uncirculated condition, allowing observers to appreciate the fine details of its design just as it looked when it first left the mint. With a silver content of 0.0715 troy ounces, it is a tangible piece of mid-twentieth-century metalwork. On the obverse, the coin displays a youthful depiction of Lady Liberty wearing a winged Phrygian cap. This distinct headwear often led the public to mistake the figure for the Roman messenger god, giving rise to the popular nickname of the Mercury Dime. The front also bears the inscription IN GOD WE TRUST alongside the 1945 date. The reverse features a fasces, a bundle of rods bound around an ax, positioned next to an olive branch. These contrasting elements represent strength and the desire for peace. Surrounding this central image are the legends UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, E PLURIBUS UNUM, and the denomination, ONE DIME.
