Struck during the final year of World War II, this ten-cent piece from the San Francisco Mint represents the culmination of a beloved era in American coinage. Composed of 90 percent silver, containing 0.0715 troy ounces of the precious metal, this coin is preserved in Almost Uncirculated condition, retaining much of its original luster and detail. The obverse features a striking portrait of a youthful Liberty wearing a winged Phrygian cap. This distinctive headgear, which historically symbolized freedom of thought, led the public to mistake the figure for the Roman messenger god, giving rise to the popular "Mercury Dime" moniker. Alongside the portrait, the traditional motto "IN GOD WE TRUST" and the 1945 date are clearly visible. On the reverse, the design presents a fasces, a bundle of rods bound around an ax, closely intertwined with an olive branch. This powerful pairing of symbols represents both strength and a desire for peace. The reverse also displays the San Francisco "S" mint mark, the denomination "ONE DIME", and the legendary Latin motto "E PLURIBUS UNUM".
