Struck during the final year of World War II, the 1945-S Walking Liberty half dollar represents a high point in American coinage design. Minted in San Francisco, this fifty-cent piece is composed of 90 percent silver, containing 0.3575 troy ounces of precious metal. In Extra Fine condition, the coin retains much of the crisp detail that made this series a favorite among collectors and art lovers alike. The obverse features Adolph Weinman's celebrated depiction of Lady Liberty moving gracefully toward a rising sun. She is draped in the American flag, her arm outstretched in a gesture of welcome, while carrying a bundle of oak and laurel branches to symbolize civil and military strength. The inscriptions "IN GOD WE TRUST" and the year "1945" are clearly visible on this side. On the reverse, a powerful eagle is shown perched on a rocky mountain crag, wings partially spread as if preparing to launch into flight. A pine sapling grows from the rock, representing renewal. The reverse also displays the traditional motto "E PLURIBUS UNUM" and identifies the issuing nation as the United States of America.
