1945 Walking Liberty Half Dollar Fine/VF

0.3575 troy oz .900 1945 Fine/Very Fine

Struck in the final year of World War II, this 1945 half dollar represents a classic era of United States coinage. Minted in Philadelphia, the coin is composed of 90 percent silver, containing 0.3575 troy ounces of the precious metal. It survives in a circulated state, displaying the honest wear of Fine to Very Fine condition. The obverse showcases Adolph Weinman's celebrated design of Lady Liberty. She is depicted in mid-stride, draped in the American flag as she walks toward a rising sun while cradling branches of laurel and oak. Legible inscriptions on this side include the word LIBERTY, the year 1945, and the motto IN GOD WE TRUST. On the reverse, a powerful eagle stands perched upon a mountain crag, its wings slightly raised as if preparing for flight. The inscriptions surrounding the majestic bird read UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and HALF DOLLAR, alongside the traditional Latin motto E PLURIBUS UNUM.
