The 1945 Walking Liberty half dollar stands as a classic example of mid-century American coinage. Struck in 90% fine silver, this fifty-cent piece contains 0.3575 troy ounces of precious metal. This particular specimen is certified in Mint State 64 (MS-64) condition, preserving the intricate details of its celebrated artwork just as it left the Philadelphia mint during the final year of World War II. The obverse of the coin displays a powerful depiction of Lady Liberty striding gracefully toward a rising sun, cradling a bundle of branches in her arm. The legend "IN GOD WE TRUST" is clearly visible alongside the 1945 date. On the reverse, a majestic eagle is shown perched upon a rocky outcrop, wings slightly spread as if preparing for flight. The traditional Latin motto "E PLURIBUS UNUM" is inscribed on this side. Because this coin bears no mint mark, it is identified as a product of the main United States minting facility in Philadelphia, which produced more than 31 million of these half dollars in 1945.
