Struck in the final years of a beloved American design series, the 1946 half dollar minted in San Francisco represents a high point of United States coinage art. This piece is composed of 90 percent silver, containing 0.3575 troy ounces of the precious metal. Preserved in Almost Uncirculated condition, it showcases the intricate details of a design first introduced during the early twentieth century. The obverse presents a powerful depiction of Lady Liberty moving gracefully toward a rising sun. She is draped in the American flag, her right arm extended in a gesture of welcome while her left arm cradles a bundle of oak and pine branches, symbolizing civil and military strength. Inscribed with the year 1946 and the motto "IN GOD WE TRUST", this side captures a sense of optimism and forward movement. On the reverse, a majestic eagle stands perched upon a rugged mountain crag, its wings partially spread as if preparing to launch into flight. A pine sapling emerges from the rock, representing new life and growth. This side bears the inscriptions "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA", "E PLURIBUS UNUM", and the denomination "HALF DOLLAR", completing a design conceived by the celebrated sculptor Adolph Weinman.
