Struck in 1946 at the San Francisco Mint, this half dollar represents the final years of one of America's most celebrated coin designs. The coin is composed of 90 percent silver, containing 0.3575 troy ounces of precious metal (with a total silver content of 0.3617 ounces). This particular specimen is certified in Mint State 64 (MS-64) condition, preserving the intricate details of its mid-twentieth-century craftsmanship. The obverse, designed by Adolph Weinman, presents a graceful image of Lady Liberty moving toward the rising sun while cradling a bundle of branches. Legible inscriptions on this side include the trust motto and the 1946 date. On the reverse, a powerful eagle stands perched upon a rocky outcrop, its wings spread wide as if preparing for flight. The reverse inscriptions include the country of issue, the denomination of half dollar, and the traditional motto of unity.
