1946 Walking Liberty Half Dollar MS-63 NGC

0.3575 troy oz .900 1946 MS-63 (NGC)

The 1946 Walking Liberty half dollar stands as a classic example of American coinage from the mid twentieth century. Struck in 90% pure silver, this half dollar contains 0.3575 troy ounces of precious metal. This particular specimen has been certified in Mint State 63 (MS-63) condition, preserving the intricate details of its celebrated design just as it left the Philadelphia Mint, where it was struck without a mint mark. On the obverse, Lady Liberty is depicted in mid stride, walking gracefully toward a rising sun while cradling a bundle of branches in her arm. The legendary motto "IN GOD WE TRUST" is clearly visible alongside the 1946 date. The reverse of the coin showcases a powerful eagle perched upon a rugged rock, wings partially spread as if preparing for flight. The traditional Latin phrase "E PLURIBUS UNUM" is inscribed on this side, completing a design created by Adolph A. Weinman that remains one of the most admired in United States numismatic history.
