The mid-century era of American coinage is beautifully represented by this 1946 Walking Liberty half dollar. Struck in 90% silver, this piece contains 0.3575 troy ounces of precious metal. Because it was minted at the Philadelphia facility, the coin does not display a mint mark, a traditional characteristic of issues from that historic mint. Adolph A. Weinman created the iconic imagery featured on this fifty-cent piece. The obverse presents a graceful depiction of Lady Liberty walking toward a rising sun while cradling a bundle of branches. On the reverse, a powerful eagle is shown perched on a rocky outcrop, wings slightly spread as if preparing to take flight.
