The 1947 Walking Liberty half dollar represents the final year of one of America's most celebrated circulating coin designs. Struck at the Denver Mint, this mid-century silver piece carries a denomination of 50 cents and is composed of 90 percent silver, containing 0.3575 troy ounces of the precious metal. This particular specimen survives in Almost Uncirculated condition, preserving the fine details of its mid-century craftsmanship. On the obverse, Adolph Weinman's design depicts Lady Liberty moving gracefully toward a rising sun. She cradles a bundle of branches in her arm, symbolizing strength and peace, while the motto IN GOD WE TRUST is inscribed in the field. The year 1947 is anchored at the bottom of the design. The reverse displays a powerful eagle perched upon a mountain crag, wings partially spread as if preparing for flight. The Denver mint mark, a small D, is located on this side, alongside the traditional national inscriptions UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, E PLURIBUS UNUM, and the denomination HALF DOLLAR.
