The 1947 half dollar struck at the Denver Mint represents a classic era of United States coinage design. Struck in 90 percent silver, this piece contains 0.3575 troy ounces of precious metal. Preserved in Brilliant Uncirculated condition, it showcases the intricate details of a design first introduced in the early twentieth century. On the obverse, the figure of Lady Liberty is depicted in mid-stride, moving gracefully toward a rising sun while cradling a bundle of branches in her arm. This side of the coin bears the inscription "IN GOD WE TRUST" alongside the date 1947. The design was created by sculptor Adolph Weinman, whose work on this series remains highly celebrated. Turning the coin over reveals a powerful reverse design featuring an eagle perched upon a rugged mountain crag, wings partially spread as if preparing for flight. The reverse inscriptions include "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA", the traditional motto "E PLURIBUS UNUM", and the denomination "HALF DOLLAR". The "D" mint mark on this specimen denotes its origin at the Denver facility.
