Struck at the San Francisco Mint in 1947, this Roosevelt silver dime represents an early year in one of America's most enduring coin designs. Minted with a composition of 90 percent silver, the coin contains 0.0715 troy ounces of precious metal. This particular specimen is preserved in Brilliant Uncirculated condition, maintaining its original luster and sharp details just as it looked when it first left the coining press. The obverse of the ten-cent piece showcases a left-facing profile of President Franklin D. Roosevelt. Surrounding his portrait are the inscriptions LIBERTY and IN GOD WE TRUST, along with the 1947 date. Below the truncation of the neck, the tiny initials JS are visible, representing the designer of this classic portrait. On the reverse, a central torch stands upright, flanked by an olive branch on the left and an oak branch on the right. These elements represent peace, strength, and independence. The inscriptions UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and ONE DIME frame the design, while the Latin motto E PLURIBUS UNUM is split across the lower field. The S mint mark, denoting its origin at the San Francisco Mint, is positioned just to the left of the torch base.
