1948-1963 Franklin Half Dollar MS-64 CACG (Random)

0.3575 troy oz .900 MS-64 (CAC)

Introduced in 1948, the Franklin half dollar represents a distinct era in United States coinage, departing from the traditional allegorical figures of Liberty to honor one of the nation's most famous founding fathers. This series, minted from 1948 to 1963, contains 0.3575 troy ounces of 90 percent silver. Each coin is certified in Mint State 64 condition, preserving the crisp details of the original mid-century artistry. The obverse features a right-facing profile of Benjamin Franklin, designed by John R. Sinnock. Surrounding the portrait are the inscriptions of LIBERTY and IN GOD WE TRUST, alongside the year of issue. This design marked a significant shift in American numismatic history, celebrating a historical individual on the half dollar denomination. On the reverse, the central focus is the historic Liberty Bell, complete with its famous crack. To the right of the bell, a small eagle is depicted, satisfying the legal requirement for the bird's presence on the half dollar. The reverse also displays the traditional motto E PLURIBUS UNUM, the name of the country, and the face value of HALF DOLLAR. These coins were struck at the Philadelphia, Denver, or San Francisco mints, representing a classic era of American silver coinage.
