Struck at the Denver Mint in 1948, this ten-cent piece represents an early year in the long-running Roosevelt dime series. The coin is composed of 90 percent silver, containing 0.0715 troy ounces of the precious metal. Preserved in Brilliant Uncirculated condition, it offers a clear look at the artistry and inscriptions of mid-twentieth-century American circulating coinage. The obverse displays a left-facing profile of Franklin D. Roosevelt. Surrounding the portrait are the inscriptions LIBERTY and IN GOD WE TRUST, along with the 1948 date and the designer's initials, JS. This side captures the dignified likeness that became a permanent fixture on the nation's ten-cent denomination. On the reverse, three distinct symbols of American ideals are arranged side by side. An olive branch on the left, a lit torch in the center, and an oak branch on the right represent peace, liberty, and strength. The legends UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and ONE DIME frame the central design, while the traditional motto E PLURIBUS UNUM is split across the field, completing a classic piece of United States coinage history.
