1948-D Washington Quarter Good/XF

0.1788 troy oz .900 1948 Good or Better

In 1948, the Denver Mint struck this classic twenty-five cent piece, composed of 90 percent silver with an actual precious metal weight of 0.17875 troy ounces. Representing the post-World War II era of United States coinage, this issue showcases the enduring artistry of John Flanagan, whose work has defined the denomination for generations. The obverse presents the left-facing profile of George Washington, the nation's first president. This dignified portrait is accompanied by the national motto, IN GOD WE TRUST, positioned in the left field, with the year 1948 inscribed below the bust. On the reverse, a powerful heraldic eagle is depicted with its wings outspread. The bird grips a bundle of arrows in its talons, positioned above an olive branch, symbolizing both strength and peace. Above the eagle, the traditional Latin phrase E PLURIBUS UNUM is visible, while the legends identifying the United States of America and the quarter dollar denomination frame the central design.
