In 1948, the Denver Mint struck this classic twenty-five cent piece, composed of 90 percent silver with an actual precious metal weight of 0.17875 troy ounces. Representing the post-World War II era of United States coinage, this issue showcases the enduring artistry of John Flanagan, whose work has defined the denomination for generations. The obverse presents the left-facing profile of George Washington, the nation's first president. This dignified portrait is accompanied by the national motto, IN GOD WE TRUST, positioned in the left field, with the year 1948 inscribed below the bust.
